This past weekend was great! Mike was home for a few days in a row, and we crammed a lot into that time! I was so happy to have him home... especially to kill bugs. :)
We went to our neighbor's BBQ. They made some awesome pulled pork in their smoker. The south is great! We met some of their friends, and they were really nice. It was great to talk to everyone, and I think that we will become good friends with our neighbors. They are holding a potluck block party in July for the whole neighborhood. I am already planning on what I will make!
Then the next day, Mike and I went to Durham to eat at a place called Foster's Market. The food there is amazing! Everything is fresh and home made. Including the giant piece of carrot cake we shared for dessert. Mike had a delicious Italian sub, and I had a Thai chicken wrap. It's a really cool place because it works on the honor system: you have your lunch, and you pay afterwards. You have to let them know what you had to eat... we almost forgot to pay for our chips! They also have an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly. I think Berit would love to take a trip to Foster's Market sometime soon. Along with fresh breakfast and lunch foods, they also sell different things in the market such as their famous 7 pepper jelly, organic honey, etc. Very cool place.
After lunch at Foster's, we went to the Crabtree Mall in Raleigh. It is a really nice mall... kind of like the Galleria at home. We did some perusing in Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. Of course, we can't afford anything right now, but we got a lot of good ideas for decorating the house some day!
Then for dinner, we went into Chapel Hill, and we ate at the Carolina Brewery. We tried their beer sampler... yum! I had beer braised ribs, and Mike has a burger and fries. Overall it was great food. Unfortunately, we sat next to an obnoxious party, but it was still fun.
Mike is away again for the whole week. I am already bored to tears. I start work soon, and I can not wait to get out of the house!
Em- as far as window coverings go, we just went with faux wood blinds for now. We got them in a white color that matches the casing on the windows. Eventually, we will be getting curtains... probably not for a while! We really like the heavier curtains with the rope tie backs. We saw some nice ones at Restoration Hardware... perhaps we will register for curtains?
I know that everyone is eager for pictures of the house! I promise I will get some out there, but for now, we are still in unpack mode, and I am not quite ready to show off the house. Haha
Love,
Lauran
